Since 1884, IEEE has actively shaped the future of technology — and the world — by continuously advancing innovation and technological excellence. In 2025, IEEE celebrated the exceptional accomplishments of its leaders and members who drove transformative change and made our world a better place for everyone.
The IEEE Medal of Honor is IEEE’s pinnacle of recognition. IEEE Life Fellow and Broadcom founder Henry Samueli was the first recipient of the newly elevated US$2 million prize for his pioneering work that led to the explosive growth of broadband technologies. His contributions made everyday items like mobile phones, laptops, tablets and IoT devices possible. Samueli’s pioneering research in developing and commercializing analog and mixed signal communications systems circuits transformed wired and wireless networking technologies. The award was presented at the IEEE Honors Ceremony in Tokyo.
IEEE held its 2025 Honors Ceremony event in Tokyo, celebrating excellence and innovation within the global technology community. The successful pre-event brought together established IEEE medal recipients, tech innovators, awards sponsors and IEEE leadership with emerging young professionals, creating meaningful connections across generations of technology leaders.
