IEEE Rising Stars Debuts in Latin America

IEEE Rising Stars conferences in 2025 brought together top STEM students and young professionals to connect and be inspired. The flagship event was held in Las Vegas, Nevada, while the inaugural Latin America and Caribbean Conference was held in Panama City, Panama. Both events featured technical innovation talks, development sessions, workshops, competitions and networking opportunities with community leaders and peers, fostering professional growth and career advancement.

Historic Congress in Tunisia Represents Landmark Event

The IEEE Middle East and North Africa Student and Young Professional Congress 2025 was held in August in Gammarth, Tunisia. This landmark event marked the first-ever merger of the Middle East Congress and North Africa Congress, uniting the two gatherings into one powerful platform. Participants engaged in keynotes, workshops, panel discussions and cultural events celebrating Tunisian heritage.

Student Awarded IEEE Presidents’ Scholarship for Saving Marine Life

As part of its mission to inspire young minds to pursue STEM careers, this year’s IEEE Presidents’ Scholarship of US$10,000 was awarded to high school student Sydney West from Richland, Washington, who built a remotely operated vehicle designed to help preserve and sustain coral reefs. The award, established by the IEEE Foundation, is payable over four years of undergraduate university study and includes a complimentary IEEE student membership.

Students Race Against the Clock in Global Coding Challenge

IEEEXtreme Programming Competition
IEEEXtreme 19.0, a 24-hour global computer coding competition, reached new heights in 2025. The competition was preceded by PreXtreme 2.0, a mini version of the main event designed to drive early registration. This preparatory event attracted 330 teams, helping to build momentum for the main competition.

IEEE Day Celebrates Global Engineering Community

Being an IEEE member means joining a global community united by a shared passion for technology and innovation. IEEE Day exemplified this spirit by honoring the first gathering of IEEE members in 1884. IEEE members and volunteers celebrated around the world, from Portugal to India to the United States, engaging in photo and video contests that encouraged members worldwide to capture their IEEE Day experiences.

TryEngineering® Sparks Passion for Tech Careers With On-Campus Experiences

IEEE TryEngineering® Summer Institute is a hands-on engineering summer camp for high school students. The goal is to spark enthusiasm in engineering and technology among the next generation of problem-solvers and difference-makers, and position these innovators for long-term success in academics and in life.
